Why Volunteer

Our volunteers are vital to the services we deliver to young people, they are at the heart of all we do. The volunteer nature of the Off The Record service is a vital and unique element of the charity.  The majority of our volunteers live locally, bringing their knowledge of the area, professional skills and life experience into their volunteering roles. We value the unique gift of time and knowledge that our pool of 80 volunteers bring to their work with young people; their pool of wisdom informs the development and delivery of our activities and projects.

Volunteering spending time, unpaid to help others - we have opportunities to volunteer as a trustee to guide the strategic and legal side of running a charity or occasional volunteering opportunities to support fundraising events or enhance specific activities such as social media work. However, the majority of volunteering with Off The Record involves supporting young people. Supporting the groupwork service delivery (emotional health project sessions or working with our young carers programme), supporting our 1:1 counselling service at the centre in Leigh Park, providing counselling (if you are already a qualified counsellor or student counsellor with ‘fit for practice status’).
