Outputs and outcomes

Off The Record is a busy service, we achieve over 10,000 contacts each year with over 1,500 people contacting the service for the first time.

We provide a Support and Information Service via pool of 40 volunteer Support Workers committed to providing a welcoming first point of contact and informal crisis supports. These volunteers are an integral part of the support offered to young people at the times of the day when it is most needed. In addition to providing support and information we make over 5,800 weekly phone to clients on the counselling waiting list.

Gaining general information is the highest topic of need or concern, followed by anxiety, depression, abusive situations, school, college and work problems, low self-esteem, anger and aggression.

Our clients come to OTR from various sources of referral. A large proportion (43%) were referred to us by GPs and the Health services, Word of mouth through family and friends (24%), including former clients is our next highest percentage. Referrals of female clients is significantly higher than young males, the percentage of female clients gaining support is often over 70%. We support young people 11- 25 year olds with 48% being between 13 - 16 years old.

Typically 55 counselling places are offered each week which enables at least 2400 1:1 sessions to be attended each this year. At the end of their counselling sessions: 90% of clients reported their concerns about school, work education and training had improved or stabilised. Between 78% and 75% felt their concerns about dealing with anger and self-image had improved or stabilised and 66% were able to report their self-confidence had improved.
